Who They Are: The company behind Redis. In March 2024 it moved Redis from the BSD licence to a dual RSALv2/SSPLv1 choice, which prompted the Linux Foundation's Valkey fork. With Redis 8.0, released May 1, 2025, it added AGPLv3 as a third option, so Redis Open Source 8.0 and later is available under RSALv2, SSPLv1 or AGPLv3 at the user's choice. Redis 7.4 to 7.8 remain RSALv2/SSPLv1 only, and 7.2 and earlier remain BSD. Redis also folded the Redis Stack technologies (JSON, Time Series, probabilistic data types, Redis Query Engine) into core Redis 8 and added vector sets. Its commercial products are Redis Software (the self-managed enterprise edition, also called Redis Enterprise) and Redis Cloud.
