Azure Arc
Azure Arc is Microsoft's control-plane extension that projects on-premises servers, any CNCF-conformant Kubernetes cluster, and select Azure data services into Azure Resource Manager, so they can be inventoried, governed, and monitored with the same tools used for native Azure resources. The first Arc capability, Azure Arc-enabled servers, reached general availability in September 2020, with Arc-enabled Kubernetes and Arc-enabled data services following on their own GA timelines afterward. Arc does not move workloads into Azure — the servers, clusters, and databases keep running wherever they already are, on AWS, Google Cloud, or bare metal, with Arc supplying only the management and policy layer.
