AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) is Amazon's managed replication service that migrates relational databases, NoSQL stores, and data warehouses into AWS while the source database stays online and keeps serving production traffic. AWS took DMS to general availability in March 2016 across eight AWS Regions, adding Amazon Redshift as a supported target two months later. DMS supports both homogeneous migrations, such as Oracle to Oracle, and heterogeneous ones, such as Oracle to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, using change data capture to keep the target in sync until cutover.
